The Silent Account Killer: IP Collision Flags
You spent months passing an evaluation challenge, submitted your KYC documents, and received your funded credentials. Two weeks later, you receive a cold email from the firm:
*"Your account has been terminated due to a violation of Section 4: Prohibited Account Sharing and Unauthorized Automated Services."*
You never shared your login. You never sold your account. So why did the firm ban you?
The answer lies in the IP address of the cheap virtual private server (VPS) or shared cloud service you used to run your trading terminal.
How Prop Firm Anti-Fraud Systems Track Your Connection
Major prop firms employ sophisticated risk management software (such as broker server audit logs and automated telemetry tools) to detect account passing services, account management schemes, and coordinated copy-trading networks.
These systems monitor three critical network parameters:
1. Subnet Clustering: When 40 different traders log into their MT5 terminals from the exact same /24 IP subnet hosted by budget VPS providers (such as cheap Hetzner, Contabo, or OVH ranges), the firm's system flags that entire IP range as a commercial account management ring.
2. Rapid Geographic Jumps: If you check your trades on your smartphone from London at 14:00, and an automated server logs in from Frankfurt at 14:02, the firm flags an impossible travel velocity violation.
3. Machine GUID Fingerprinting: MetaTrader 5 transmits hardware identifiers and client build signatures. If multiple unrelated trading accounts report identical virtual machine signatures, firms conclude the accounts are managed by a single unauthorized party.
Why Standard VPNs and Budget VPS Make It Worse
Traders frequently try to bypass IP restrictions by purchasing standard commercial VPNs. This actually worsens the problem:
- Commercial VPN IP addresses are publicly indexed on datacenter fraud lists.
- Tens of thousands of users share the same exit node IP simultaneously.
- When another user on that VPN gets banned by the prop firm for high-frequency latency arbitrage, every other account logging in from that same VPN exit IP gets flagged by association.
The Dedicated IP Standard
To remain 100% compliant with prop firm terms of service, an external monitoring or risk tool must guarantee:
- Single-Tenant Private IP: Your monitoring server must originate connections through a clean, dedicated IP address assigned exclusively to you.
- Consistent Session Identity: The IP must remain stable across days, weeks, and terminal reboots.
- Isolated Virtual Environments: Terminal processes must never share virtual machines, temporary memory space, or machine GUIDs with other traders.
MyPropGuard provisions dedicated private cloud IP addresses for every subscriber. When our engine connects to your MT5 broker to monitor equity and enforce stop-outs, the broker sees a single, dedicated, unflagged connection that belongs solely to you.
